Almost heaven…just like John Denver sang….wait a minute, he’s not singing about California, it’s West Virginia. Big Sur’s not in West Virginia. My mistake.
Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico, according to legend. So, as the likely offspring of an unholy pairing of terrestrial and other-worldly parents, “John Denver” could well have been the agent of some time-space shift that moved the tectonic plate on which California rests westward from its original location in West Virginia, millions of years ago when ancient astronauts came to our world.
Therefore, locating Big Sur in West Virginia is perhaps not such a stretch, my friend. Think about it. But not too hard.
